Eye Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

Dr. Donald Macdonald completed a Fellowship in Oculoplastic and Recontructive Surgery at both the New York Eye and Ear Infirmiry and the Manhattan Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital. He was the first physician in New Jersey to use Botox to treat hemifacial spasm and blepharospasm, many years before it was approved for cosmetic use. Dr. Macdonald also has expertise removing malignant eyelid and orbital tumors and reconstruction utilizing various skin, muscle and fat grafts as well and flaps.  He is an expert on removing growth, both benign and malignant, from the eye, including ptergium and chalazion.  He also is an expert on lacrimal duct diseases, of which the most common is a blocked tear duct in newborns and dacryocystitis in adults.

Dr. Macdonald has special training for reconstructive procedures for traumatic injuries to the eye and eyelids and surrounding tissues, as well as repairing orbital fractures.  The most common eye plastic surgeries are for ptosis, ectropion, and entropion, all of which have multiple causes.  Other common diseases needing orbital or lid surgery include Graves Disease and congenital malformations such as epiblepharon, ptosis and coloboma.

Dr. Macdonald is also highly trained at many cosmetic procedures, including upper and lower blepharoplasties. We have lasers for hair removal and provide skin resurfacing with microdermabrasion, and skin rejuvenation with Restylane and Botox.
