Monmouth Eye Care is located at 21 Gilbert Street North, Tinton Falls, NJ. Our mission is to provide the very best medical and surgical care for our patients. We are all compassionate physicians and we are proud that we provide all the care ourselves and do not overbook our schedules.
Our practice specializes in cataract surgery, LASIK, PRK and CK refractive surgery, glaucoma laser procedures, eye plastic surgery including cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, as well as contact lens fitting, dry eye treatment, and pediatric and adult eye care.
Dr. Donald Macdonald is our medical director. After graduating from Dartmouth Medical School, Dr. Macdonald completed his residency in ophthalmology at the Manhattan Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital. He completed a Fellowship in Oculoplastic and Recontructive Surgery, graduating from both the New York Eye and Ear Infirmiry and the Manhattan Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital. He was the first physician in New Jersey to use Botox to treat hemifacial spasm and blepharospasm, many years before it was approved for cosmetic use. Dr. Macdonald also has expertise removing malignant eyelid and orbital tumors and reconstruction utilizing various skin, muscle and fat grafts as well and flaps. He also is an expert on lacrimal duct diseases.
We have lasers for hair removal and provide skin resurfacing with microdermabrasion, and skin rejuvenation with Restylane and Botox.
In 2000 Dr. Macdonald, in conjunction with Meridian Health, formed the Shrewsbury Surgery Center. This facility is on Shrewsbury Avenue across from our office, and is where we do most of our surgeries, including cataract and cosmetic surgery. In the past ten years it has become the envy of all surgery centers, known for its professionalism, state of the art equipment and highly trained anesthesia and nursing departments.
Our primary hospital is the Riverview Medical Center, one of the finest hospitals in New Jersey. Our practice takes all our own call for after hour emergencies as well as coverage call for the hospital.
Also in 2000, Dr. Macdonald started the ClearSight Vision Center, also in Tinton Falls. This center is dedicated to refractive surgery, mainly LASIK and PRK, utilizing the latest Custom Cornea technology.
Our optical shop, Monmouth Optical, is in our office. We have a superb optician, Betsy Ready, who is available Monday through Friday and on Saturday a month. Our prices are affordable and our quality high end.
Dr. Macdonald created the Clearsight Laser Center, dedicated to LASIK and PRK refractive surgery. We presently have the Wavelight® Allegretto Wave® Eye-Q Laser.

Dr. Donald Macdonald was born in Englewood, NJ. He graduated Cum Laude from Portsmouth Abbey School, Williams College with Highest Honors in Chemistry and Dartmouth Medical School.
